The famous oil painting «Summer Night at the Beach» by Edvard Munch was recently sold for 40 million dollars in New York, this is new world record for a Edvard Munch painting. The painting «Vampire» set a new record for Edvard Munch paintings when it was sold for 38.162 million USD at Sotheby’s New York on November 3, 2008.

They have free public guided tours in English every day at 1pm in July and August, however the museum admission fee is NOK 75. Public guided tours in Norwegian every Sunday at 13.00. About Edvard Munch
The world-famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch was born in 1863 at Loten in Hedmark County. In 1864, he and his family moved to the Norwegian capital Oslo. In 1880, Edvard Munch decides to become a painter and in 1881 he is a student at The Royal Academy of Drawing in Kristiania (Kristiania is the former name of Oslo). In 1882 he rents a painting studio in Oslo. His first participation at a exhibit in 1885 in Antwerp. First solo Edvard Munch exhibit in Oslo in 1889. The most famous painting is the «The Scream», painted in 1893. Edvard Munch died in 1944.
